Il s'agit d'une variété fière née à Hokkaido. En raison de sa saveur équilibrée et de son bon goût même à froid, cette variété est largement utilisée non seulement à table mais aussi dans les boîtes à lunch, et elle est largement consommée à table à Hokkaido. Les grains ne perdent pas facilement leur forme et ont un bon lustre. Il est modérément sucré et son goût est agréable même lorsqu'il est froid. Ce riz convient aux boîtes à bento et aux sushis.
