This glass depicts birds (plovers, chidori in Japanese) flying over the waves, a traditional motif popular with the Japanese. The Chidori is a type of small plover and symbolises good luck, happiness, security and longevity (as its call "chiyo" sounds like 千代, meaning "1000 generations"). The waves, on the other hand, are a symbol of prosperity.
