Konjac is a plant from East Asia. It is known for its appetite suppressant effect, while having a high fibre content and a very low calorie content.
The bulbs of the konjac plant are ground into flour in Japan and eaten either as a gelatinous paste (konnyaku) or as vermicelli (shirataki).
Ita-konnyaku is usually cut into cubes or slices for dipping into nabes and odens (Japanese fondues).
